I heard music coming from a distance. It was really different, a blend of blues and reggae with an African sound about it. Wonderful. I turned the corner and that’s when I saw her, this beautiful woman, singing in the middle of the square. I was fascinated by her face – it was one of those faces that are full of soul. I found out later that she was Aziza Brahim, a Saharan singer and percussionist who had come to Segovia to take part in the ‘Diversons’ festival of sound.
