This hobby of taking photos with my phone has made me take far more notice of every little detail wherever I go. I’m always looking out for things other people don’t normally notice, in the simple hope of finding something that is hidden to everyone else. The reflections on the window panes around the campus, for example, have always caught my attention. There’s something magical about the way the distorted images shimmy across the glass. Determined to get photos of them, I started shooting with the camera one day without noticing that a colleague was walking past at that instant, giving me a friendly wave. Sometimes, when you’re trying to get a photo that’s a bit different, it’s all down to luck. But it’s also true that if I hadn’t been so focused on detail, this photo simply wouldn’t have been possible.
