For some reason this landscape just didn’t seem enough. That evening the magic atmosphere of the city, the unrelenting foliage advancing on the city walls, the impassive mountain, and the heavy leaden sky were simply not sufficient. I needed to paint the scene like I would on canvas. I broke all the academic rules and played with the photo until my instinct told me I had done enough, that any more would be too much. Segovia lighted up and flooded with color – electric. That’s how I like my autumn days.
