A man stopped his little Seat Seiscientos car to take a photo of a 1930’s fire engine in a meeting of two classics. In these technological times we’ve got used to our machines having a very short lifespan. “Programmed obsolescence” is what they call it. In the blink of an eye our smartphones, cameras or televisions are outdated. But after a certain amount of time, that device we kept at the back of a drawer starts to look good again, and is suddenly a collector’s item. Something that had been banished from sight is brought back to life in the form of a classic. That’s why you shouldn’t throw anything away. Something you cast aside could some day be a prize possession, a classic to appreciate and show off.
