People pay no particular attention as a child plays with his hoop on a sunny morning in the city center. They say that playing is key for children’s physical and intellectual development. Playing is not just about having fun, it also fosters intelligence, stimulates creativity and imagination, and makes for better social integration. But playing is not just for children. It also brings benefits for adults, reducing stress, raising levels of happiness, and combating boredom. Pablo Neruda wrote: “A child who doesn’t play is not a child, but the man who doesn’t play has lost the child within him, and that is something he will really need.” That’s why you always have to play, because that’s how you’ll never lose contact with your inner child.
