Segovia’s main square or plaza mayor is the beating heart of the city and a place that is brimming with life. The old cathedral, the new Church of San Miguel, the Town Hall, the bandstand and the emblematic Juan Bravo Theater are all here. It’s a meeting place for Segovians and a must-see for any tourist in a city where History with a capital “H” is etched in every stone. Here’s an interesting fact: the coronation of Isabel la Católica as Queen of Castile in 1474 was held in the atrium of the church of San Miguel, which at the time was situated in the very center of the plaza mayor.
