There’s this really friendly legionnaire who guards the entrance to the Alcázar with great enthusiasm, just like Don Quijote when he stood guard over the arms kept in the courtyard of a fortress. However this guardian of the Alcazar does not spend all his time daydreaming about having a beautiful maiden to adore. He’s too busy enticing tourists from his sentry post, all the while looking like a character straight out of Asterix the Gaul. The many treasures that make up Segovia’s Roman heritage include the Aqueduct and this very special legionnaire, standing firm at the gateway to Segovia’s best fortress, waiting for a legion of tourists to take a photo of him in exchange for whatever they think it’s worth.
