White storks, those wonderful migratory birds that hold such a fascination for me, have once again returned to the bell towers of Segovia from far off lands in Africa. These storks have had a front row view of the first snowfalls of the year. Every time they’re here at the old Santa Cruz la Real Convent I try to stop for at least a moment to take a proper look at the family nest, and observe how they in turn seem to enjoy watching us from way up high. People say their arrival is a sign that spring is on the way, but I’m afraid in this instance they’ve returned too early.
